Neurologic disorders are often unique to each individual since disease, trauma, or injury involving the brain, spine, and/or associated nerves is such an intricate system. The impact on a person may result in symptoms of weakness, pain, impaired balance and coordination, dizziness, or confusion. As a result, a person may be suffering from falls, impaired household mobility for transfers and daily tasks, and limitations with daily walking within their home or community.
The goals when treating patients with neurological disorders is no different from any other patient who comes to MOTI. We strive to help our patients gain back functional mobility that they have lost so that they can gain independence within their home and community. Whether it means getting in/out of your shower, safely climbing a few steps you have at home, or going back to a dance class or hobby, your MOTI physical therapist is here and ready to help you reach these goals. Using knowledge of anatomy, exercise physiology, neuroplasticity and kinesiology, your PT will also incorporate elements of movement analysis, fall risk and balance assessment(s), gait evaluation, and postural analysis to provide you with a custom physical therapy program.
For patients with neurological conditions, Dr. Mia Sugi Wassink has over 15 years treating these cases. Read more about Mia on our Who We Are page.
